Our Story
Te Nukutai o Tapoa, Naval Point, has long been a popular recreation and sport location for Christchurch. It provides both sheltered bays for swimming and recreating as well as exposure to wind for wind sports. While also providing space of land activities which creates a truly unique sports hub. We see Whakaraupō recreation hub as a destination hub for all sport and recreation throughout Christchurch.
The redevelopment process to improve Tapoa, Naval point for all stakeholders is under way. Naval point club has done a fantastic job in welcoming other water sports to their club over the pass few years. Whakaraupō recreation Inc (WRI) has been set up better represent the stakeholders and user groups of the area. WRI is a collaborative voice to support the redevelopment process to get the best outcome possible for all our members and the wider public.
